Computer Tech Advice
Here's my Computer Tech Advice:
Computer Tech's suck balls, most problems on your computer can be fixed by
you using your noodle.
This public service announcement brought to you by Draxous who doesn't know
shit about computers but just repaired my HD, fixed/completely updated
windows, fixed my computer... all by myself!!!
If you knew how little I know about comps, you'd understand that the common
man can overcome that blue screen of death!
(and yes.. this newb still recieves the blue screen on XP somehow =[ )
*tips hat*

Draxous, this post is a stroke of genius. More people should try RTFM and
see if they can fix it first, before going to their friend and asking them
to fix their computer every time they connect to the damn university server
without a firewall (*cough*morons*cough) and fuck up their computer.
Argh!
That aside, it is nice to have a place where you can talk about computer
related stuff (which mobo is better for xx use, etc).
Oh, and I get the BSoD on WinXP, but only when I'm debugging stuff with MS
VC++.NET. Go figure.

yeah I got the blue screen of death telling me windows shut down to prevent
dmg to system or hardware... so i immediately wiped my comp (hardware cant
get hurt anymore if nothing to hurt it) then installed windows.. noticed a
funny loading screen before XP even loaded and when i tried to dl windows
service pack 2 the comp would freeze so I figured it was a problem with
hd.. I did all normal windows tools (checked disks for errors) reformatted
and updated everything on my computer (except sp2) then I ran a Gateway
scan tool that scans my hd and fixes any bad sectors (i didnt have that
many)
and now my comp is running smooooooooooth

Recovering a comp from BSoD when running XP is VERY simple. In many cases
all you need to do is reboot and use the last known good configuration. MS
tried to design it to be idiot proof.
At any rate, you need not be an alpha-geek, just semi-literate and not
inclined to panic.
Reading is really an underated skill.

patience
A quality that people doesnt have...with patience, any computer problem can
be figured out. That and some process of elimination. But if everyone
knew how to fix their own computer, then Technical Support Personell at
Computer Stores would be obsolete, and their would be more unemployed
people.
I want to see...suffering
