Any chance in the future UOPG will turn into a pay site similar to what IGN
has done?
When they first launched their Insider program, I signed up, if nothing
else, for the sake of keeping IGN alive.
I'm glad UOPG got a new host. However, should a time ever come in the
future when the decision to turn pay site or close the site needs to be
made, I'll be one of the first to sign up for the pay site. UOPG is too
good of a site to go away permanently.
By the way, hats off to Nieves for always asking the hard questions of the
folks at OSI and not submitting to political bullshit.

[Update: Fri Feb 28 06:51:52 2003 CST]
It appears that the domain transfer and DNS updates are completed. However,
it will take some time for the entries that are cached in the various ISP's
name servers around the world to expire and collect the new data.
Please be patient.
Thanks

Acually UOPG is down because of the following :
Hi,
The load from your site has caused the server you are on to crash several
times in the past few days. We do not believe we will be able to host you
further. Please contact us to make arrangements to move your site to
another host.
We are sorry for the trouble but after the fourth crash we had no choice
but to deactivate your site for the sake of the others on the server.
Best Regards,
PHPWebhosting
Forums are still up
Hasta.

I think we got a host for UOPG.
Will be a few days yet before we are back up.
UOPG has 3 sponsors. Their ads were on the front page. I just didn't do
pop ups because pop ups suck.

I don't ever see ads on UOPG, (thank goodness) so I wouldn't imagine that
the high usage would be worthwhile unless he was advertising on this page.
Anyways, I hope you find something good Nieves, this site is too damn
awsome to be down for so long. I just hope the contributers still write up
on the Front Page forums :) Eventhough the main page is down, we could
still use the information flow.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "high usage" a good thing for
the host? That means people are using his bandwidth and generating money
for him right?

Can we blame OSI for that too? I mean, if AoS' launch hadn't been such a
washout, people wouldn't have been bored and wouldn't have come here so
much...

The host killed UOPG because of "high usage".
I am working on a solution as we speak.
