- 9th Anniversary Treats for Halloween
- Happy Fun Smile! Treasures of Tokuno Return!
- The Peoples Court: Britannia v. Ricardo
- Duping Like A Xerox Factory on a Deadline
9th Anniversary Edition Details Emerge
Actually, the only thing new with the 9th Anniversary box is the box and a
couple of tile sets, which I'm sure the good people of Britannia will have
many unorthodox uses for. Additionally, you stawarts who refused to
upgrade to Mondain's Legacy will be able to do so with this edition.
Furthermore, you'll get the Attendants that the Japanese market received
earlier this summer. So, what is there for those who did upgrade, don't
need attendants and own a keep or a castle? Nothing...unless they order
during the first 30 days from release. Then, they may select nine items
from a massive hoard of pixle art.
Some of these we've seen before. All of the 7th and 8th Age items will be
available, as well as the Evil Home Décor stuff. The new items are among
the Broken Furniture collection and the Ultima Online Heritage
Collection.
The Broken Furniture Collection is just that, the broken furniture that is
found in ruins. There are eight altogether. A Broken Covered Chair,
Ruined Bookcase [there is some indication that we may finally get "full"
bookcases sometime soon], Standing Broken Chair, Broken Vanity, Broken
Chest of Drawers, Broken Armoire, Ruined Bed, and a Broken Fallen Chair.
The real goodies can be found among the Heritage Collection. a SUIT OF
ARMOR, or if you prefer, a FANCY SUIT OF ARMOR, a boiling cauldron
(complete with open flame), a guillotine (I am so putting that in my yard
in front of the Empath Abbey), A Plum Tree, A Peach Tree, An Apple Tree (no
word on whether these bear fruit), Hanging Polearms, Hanging Swords, Rug
(the picture on the website indicated that there could be more than one
variety), Coffin (but NO SARCOPHAGUS :( ), Iron Maiden (Six, six, six,
the number of the beast/ Hell and fire was spawned to be released),
Vanity, Tables with Tablecloth, Unmade Bed, Curtains, Scarecrow (if you
count the suit of armor as the Tin Man all we lack is the Cowardly Lion),
Wall Torch (thus endeth the reign of the heating stand), FOUNTAIN!!!,
STATUE (well, now that we all have statues of ourselves they give us one
that dwarfs it), large and small fishing nets and, uh, a ladder...that you
can use to get to the roof of your keep.
Now, I'm kinda torn. Some of this stuff I'm excited about, and then I stop
and think and wonder why. I mean, some of this stuff, you know, could have
been crafted. Others could have spawned as loot. Now the fountain, the
armor, the trees and the iron maiden I could see as special items, but the
rest is fairly mundane. Considering that that's 34 new items (on top of
the 28 items previously offered) and you only get 9 selections from the 62
total items (64 if you count the Talisman of the Fey thrice) it doesn't
take a math genious to see that EA is going to sell a lot of these. Which,
while I'm okay with EA making money, I'd rather see them do it through new
subscriptions than milking their fans.
Treasures of Tokuno Return, With Modifications
It turned out that the publish to the shards over the week was a return of
the Treasures of Tokuno event. While it never really went away (you could
always turn in minor Tokuno artifacts to the Minister of Trade in Zento),
the minors had stopped spawning long ago. Now they have returned, but you
can no longer select the Tokuno dyes from the Minister. Nevertheless, dyes
can still be had. One-time use dyes have appeared. Finally, an excuse to
go hunting in Tokuno again.
Inu: Evidence Gathered For Upcoming Trial of Ricardo the Thief
Ricardo the Thief, suspected of stealing the Scion's Zenith from the
Ophidians and thereby starting the war with them, was captured and detained
in Trinsic. Meanwhile, a prosecutor named Casca was named and began
gathering evidence at the Court of Truth in Yew. Thus far, an ornate pair
of lockpicks have been discovered in Nujel'm, some dried blood and a pulley
at the Ophidian Fortress and a burnt egg sac at the Terrathan Keep.
Clearly, he's guilty as sin! No word if F. Lee Bailey is going to head the
defense.
Duping
Only the half-asleep know that there is massive duping on a DIABLO-ical
scale and it's all on the account of a bug with the Character Transfer.
Those cynics who say that EA is reaping the benefits from the Character
Transfer purchases are in error, even the Character Transfer Tokens are
being duped (one needs only have to pay once if he can dupe during the
trip). Character Transfer needs to be ended like yesterday or severely
limited (how, I do not know). JCtheBuilder posted this mind-bending pic on
Stratics today:

These were found by someone after a duper (curiously named Xfer)
casually left them on the bank floor. The items were subsequently deleted.
Why anyone would pay over 50 million for an Orny after seeing that boggles
the mind (unless they intend to dupe themselves). At this rate, the
"Kingdom Reborn" will be sextuplets.
